Re: PR questions
I've never been there in December, but if you check the monthly averages on weather.com it says high 83, low 72. I've only stayed at the Ritz in Puerto Rico, and I LOVE IT!!! I say you go.. it's close, Jet Blue flies there super cheap, and it's GORGEOUS!!

Re: PR questions
The El San Juan is beautiful... we stayed next door and would definitely stay at the El San Juan next time! We were always there using that casino and even ate at the restaurant there one night.
We went in Feb and we had 1 1/2 days of rain and the other 4 days were beautiful, sunny and hot!!! I think December is a great time to go and the weather should be similar to when we were there.
We also flew jetblue... great prices.

Re: PR questions
I've been twice. The first time we stayed at the Ritz. Amazing. The service was unbeatable. I would totally recommend it.
The second time (just last month) we were at the El Conquistador Resort and Casino. It was abotu an hour from San Juan. While there were things I loved about it - there were some things I didn't. I wouldn't recommend it as much as the Ritz.
Plus - if you've never been it would be nice to be closer to old san juan if you want to go in there for a day or two - see the historic sites, do some shopping, etc... DH and I got the Lonely Planet travel guide. They had a DIY walking tour in their of Old San Juan - with sites and recommendations for bars and places to eat along the way. We broke it up into two afternoons and chose which things we wanted to do and which to skip. It worked well.
I'd definitely recommend doing an excursion to El Yunque Rain Forest too. That was really fun!
Good luck planning!

Re: PR questions
I stayed at the Ritz Carleton in PR. The hotel was great. We stayed on the club level which I would recommend. However, we really did not like PR. Compared to other places in the Carribean, the island is just not as nice in terms of the beaches, food, or places of interest. Check out Barbados....much better imo and it will probably cost the same amount.

I agree about the beaches - they were average at best unless you venture to the Caribbean side. San Juan is on the Atlantic.
