Prayers if you can spare more these days...update pg. 1
My mom just called. Our neighbor's 13 year old son's (and one of my nephew's best friend) bone marrow transplant has failed. The doctors at Sloane Kettering indicated that there's nothing more then can do about it. On Tuesday, the mom & dad are flying him to Minnesota to a doctor out there. They have to leave their 9 year old daughter behind with her grandmother to take care of & fly back & forth.
If you could have seen my nephew & his friend at St. Baldrick's - they were so cute. Jordy even shaved Josh's head. He was wearing this adorable "Remission Accomplished" tshirt... As a parent, I can't even imagine the devastating news.
Here they are at St. Baldrick's...for days they were joking having made the front page of the local newspaper.
Update 7/21 I just got the phone call - Jordy passed away. His mom called trying to get in touch with my sister so she could tell me nephew. He was a true fighter.
It's amazing how differently these situations hit you once you are a parent. My heart breaks for them. Praying for a miracle.
I know. I can't even imagine getting that news about my child. I just can't believe that Sloane would say there's nothing they can do???? Especially after he was just supposedly in remission for the past month.
