Re: Pre-k question
Half day. I think kids are in school long enough and have the rest of there lives with full structured days. Why rush it.

As a Pre-k teacher; I also agree; half days are fine.

I don't think it's bad
Most of those kids who are staying are likely staying because it meshes with their parents work schedule
My kid is going into prek 5 days a week and its only 3 hours I wish it were full day due to my work schedule.
Do what u feel is best for your child. Mine would do fine in full day.

DD's pre-k was like this. Of the 21 kids, only 6 were half-day (DD included). I don't think she missed out on anything educational, as the bulk of the afternoon seemed to be lunch, recess and a craft of some sort.

Re: Pre-k question
My dd is starting pre-k in a little over a week and its considered full day 9:30-2:30 (its Catholic school though since my district does not offer it in public), but her school also had half day which is only from 9:30-12.
