For those with multiples...
Did you split them up for pre-K or keep them together with the same teacher?

My twins are going to pre-K in September. Right now they will be in the same class, but I'm wondering if I should separate them. They are very social and can hold their own apart... I just feel bad separating them so young. :(

Thoughts?

just from what I noticed most seem to split them up. My DD's school has trips and they split them up also in Pre K.

I don't have multiples, but my SO is a twin and he and his sister were separated from K on. And they went to a small catholic school with two classes and they were always kept separate.

Pre-K Twins

My twins are starting Pre-K as well. For nursery (3 yrs) they were together. They will be seperated in Pre-K. The school strongly encouraged it, so we followed their lead.

Re: Pre-K Twins

It’s a very personal decision based on how you, their mom, feels they’ll do best. I truly believe that’s a mother’s gut instinct is never wrong.
Ultimately it’s best for all siblings to form friendships outside of the family because the dynamics are different and help children learn to navigate the social world. When they are ready to do this depends on the individual child.

Hi, I agree with the post that is a personal decision based on your gut instinct. I did not separate mine for Pre-K. They were already independent and did not follow each other so I didn't see the point since one would not be in the other's shadow. I liked the idea of having them together, one class, one group of friends, one field trip, one way of doing projects, etc... Helping out in class, not a problem when I could. I kept them together for kindergarten and the k teacher did not see a problem at all. In fact, she said she wouldn't see any reason of separating them for first unless I wanted to. So, I kept them together one more year. Again, one way of doing homework, one teachers' rules and expectations to understand for the year, one classroom to attend for parties, etc., one field trip not having to decide which class to go with, etc.. So, in a sense, it makes your life a bit easier. By the end of first, my two started bickering and I knew it was time to separate. I have no regrets. Go with your gut.
