Re: Pre-TTC Genetic testing
I asked my OB about this prior to us TTC and my insurance wouldn't pay for it. It would have been about $800 out of pocket to do it and I just couldn't afford it. My insurance would only cover it if I had a family history of something genetic, which I didn't. Fast forward to actually being pregnant, and I found out I was a carrier for Cystic Fibrosis. (There is absolutely no history of CF in my family). It was VERY stressful as we had to wait for DH's results to come back (which, Thank God, were negative). The ironic thing is my brother inquired and since I am now a carrier, his insurance will cover his genetic testing before TTC. It's weird how the insurance companies work!

Yes, insurance is insane. I wanted to make sure that it was covered in network before getting surprised with a bill for 89080 dollars.
