Prednisone. Ick. How long for side effects to kick in?
I'll be starting prednisone this cycle. I'm starting on 20mg and then increasing to 40mg, if I remember correctly.
When will I start noticing the side effects? Is it as bad as I think it will be?
I'm imagining I will gain 10lbs, get lots of hair on my face, and be a cranky insomniac.
Tell me it's not THAT bad!!

i was on prednisone for different reasons for about 2 weeks once. i didnt get hairy cause you cant really make a beard anymore hairer than it already is... i just had more anxiety jitteriness...hope it isnt bad for you!

i've been on prednisone many many times in my life for asthma....sometimes for long periods of a time at high doses. the only side effect i've ever noticed is a little bit of bloating in my face (nobody else would ever notice) and it makes me sweat like crazy.

I was on HEAVY doses of Prednisone via IV when I was 5 months pregnant with DS. They were pumping me with 70mg  for 4 days while in the hospital and I gained 10lbs within that time! They tapered me off for a week after with pills and by the end of that, the 10lbs came off.

I remember you had some sort of issue!!! Was that when you had the problem with your eye? 
When Dr.B told me about some of the side effects all I could think of was ... at least I won't be working this summer so nobody has to look at me   (eta: mainly referring to the hairiness .. I have an issue with managing excess hair, totally on top of my waxing appt every 3wks. .It's crazy, I know )

I was on 20 mg my last cycle. While it was GREAT for my chronic pain, I'm pretty sure it made me ravenous and beyond irritable (though, the irritability could have been from everything). I gained about 8 lbs my last cycle. 
ETA: I didn't have any "hairiness" issues!!

Yup... I had Optic Neuritis. Fun, fun! 
I have always had 'excess hair' due to my PCOS, so I couldn't really see a difference when on the steroids. LOL. Oh the things we have to deal with!

really, side effects were not as bad a i expected. i expected to blow up, but i absolutely did not. The ones I can mention are growth of hair on face and chin ( well, these can be pregnancy related), bloating of the face a bit and acne . But again, acne can be preg related, but for some reason i was convinced it is prednisone. I was on it post IUIs and until 12w prego. Good luck!

I had headaches at first but that could have been femara too. I take it in the am at first then at O when I do the double dose, I take it with breakfast and dinner. I find it keeps me up if I take it too late. I constantly check for moon face, but havent had it yet. I gained weight but mostly because of all the meds and my piggyness.

i can bet that it is femara that gave you headaches, not prednisone. I hated femara and had major migraines on it
