Preggo Girls who have DH's that work late...
....what are u going to do once you have to go back to work as well. My DH's job has wierd hours. Right now we leave together and get home around 10pm (we live in PA). But once the baby is here i will have to leave work at 4pm to be back home by 6:30 to pick up the baby from daycare. DH wont get home until like 9 or 10pm still if he is working on projects than he wont get home until like 3am in the morning.
This depresses me b/c i feel like i wont have any help and that DH will not be able to see his child much. The only time DH will be able to spend time with the baby is in the morning b/c i have to leave earlier than DH and on the weekends.
Anyone else in the same predicament? I am really depressed by it.

Re: Preggo Girls who have DH's that work late...
Currently, I work until midnight and DH has rotating shifts (he works 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift). I just told my bosses yesterday that I don't plan on coming back to my position because Day Care is not open at night and I don't want a nanny. I plan on working shifts here and there to make ends meet.

Yes, my DH works late so I will have the same issue. This is making me not want to return to work after the baby is born since I won't have any help. We're trying to see if I can stay home.

Re: Preggo Girls who have DH's that work late...
Same here and already Im upset since he feels he will only be able to take 1wk off when the baby is born! Im like, OH HELLS NO!
He has crazy hrs which also run into his sleeping so Im so on my own with her, as for coming home, picking her up, dropping her off, feedings and so forth.
its tough but I hope he makes every effort to do what he needs to do as a dad and be around for his daughter.

Re: Preggo Girls who have DH's that work late...
My DH works nights, so it'll be good with shifts for the baby, but he & I will never get a chance to see e/o except on weekends. He can either work 6pm-3amish or else 11 pm - 7 a.m. (& then I'd have to drive 30 min. out of the way to drop baby off in am)....I'm thankful we do have options, but sad too that he/I won't have joint baby time together....

Re: Preggo Girls who have DH's that work late...
Well, my DH works 3:30pm-11:30pm and we won't spend much time together in the evenings, but he will be taking care of the baby during the day when I go to work. His step mother will then have from 3ish til I get back home at about 6:30ish.

Re: Preggo Girls who have DH's that work late...
Wow I thought my DH worked late!! Well actually he just works a lot -- he works when he gets home, and we had a discussion the other day about how he really needs to be a full time dad when he walks through that door. He says he is putting in the time now, and hopes to work 1 day a week from home once the baby arrives.
Is there any way at ALL he could work from home sometimes?? I think it will be overwhelming to be the only one taking care of baby..or leave earlier and do stuff from home??

Re: Preggo Girls who have DH's that work late...
DH works late, plus we have his daughters 2 nights a week... so his schedule is crazy. He went thru a depression about not being around for the baby as much as he wants, plus he works Saturdays as well....
It is what it is. This job was a lifesaver for us because he got it after we found out I was PG, and it saved us... plus he has a lot of promise in it... so hopefully things will get better down the road and he will get to spend more time with the baby at some point....

Re: Preggo Girls who have DH's that work late...
My DH's main job is 2:30-10:30...plus he works a part time job from 7am-1pm....so it's me myself and the daycare that are going to be taking care of this baby...
It's a hard thing, and we debated him watching the baby in the morning and only needing part time day care for a few hours until I get off work....but it financially is best for him to keep both jobs...
We'll just have to make the best of the weekends, and I'll probably take "time off" on the weekends so he can have one on one time....

Re: Preggo Girls who have DH's that work late...
right now my DH is home by 6-7 which is not bad, but since he is in the accounting business and wants to go for his CPA dwon the road, i know that during tax season (jan-april) he wont be home some nights till midnight Thats one of the reasons he doesnt want to switch jobs right now which would further his career, b/c he's afraid he will have to work later hours (his current boss is so flexible and lets him come in late, leave early if he has too, etc) and he really wants to be around for me and the baby, esp in the beginning
