Pregnancy & Running

Hi -

I'm a semi-regular poster, newly pregnant, in hiding Chat Icon

I'm only about 6 weeks in, saw the Dr yesterday and he said no running.

But I've been doing research and since I've been a regular runner for some time now, I thought it was ok, no?

Anyone run throughout their pregnancy with the OB's ok? Or at least the first tri? I'm thinking 1/2 way through the 2nd trimester I'll probably have to slow it down to a walk anyway.

Running is a huge stress reliever for me. Elliptical & walking just don't cut it!

Re: Pregnancy & Running

My GFs sister is due Friday. She ran through her whole pregnancy WITH her Doctors blessing. She has run since high school. She obviously isn't running at full pace now, but she is doing amazing.

I believe a big thing is they don't want you falling. Also if you are higher risk, obviously there would be issues there.

I would discuss it at length with the Doctor and discuss your frustrations.

Re: Pregnancy & Running

I was told its ok to continue my regular exercise but as soon as I start running the bouncing makes me have to pee Chat Icon. I have been walking and using the elliptical instead.
