Pregnancy myth - is it true?

99% of pregnant women get hemroids?

A friend had a C section in November and had to skip out on an event this weekend due to hemroids. She did not even know she had them until she started BLEEDING from her anusChat Icon Of course she freaked out as did her DH but the doctors at the emergency room ran tests and sent her home - still bleeding from her anus? They said it was normalChat Icon But they also said something about a blood transfusion if her tests did not come back positive. They came back fine and there is no need for the transfusion.

DH thinks they just told her that to keep her calm and that something is really wrong?

Re: Pregnancy myth - is it true?

I don't know about 99% but it's very common after giving birth. I had a c-section almost 10 weeks ago and thank God no hemorroids.

I don't think 99% or even 50%. I only know a couple of my friends that have had them and there have been a ton of us pregnant over the years...
I could be wrong on the stats, but I certainly don't think it's nearly that high.

ETA: it is common though, not just after giving birth , but during pregnancy.

Re: Pregnancy myth - is it true?

Definitely not 99%. MAYBE 50%, but not sure. I got em Chat Icon

Not fun. They were a pain in the azz! Lol. Seriously though...they didn't hurt so much actually, more annoying than anything. Now i did develop a fissure shortly after having my son...THAT was painful!!

Re: Pregnancy myth - is it true?

I have heard that they are common and have a couple of friends who got them, but I really don't think it's 99%. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I make it through all this without them!

I doubt it. I had a vaginal birth and no hemmroids. That # seems really high.

I never had them. I've had 2 kids, one c/s and one VBAC and remained hemmoroid free.
