Re: "pregnancy Pact" 17 girls pregnant in high school
Oh my goodness.. I wonder how many of girls got prengant by the same boy.. Imagine.. One high school boy could be the father of at least 5 of those babies.. I wonder if the boys knew about the pact before agree to have relations..

Re: "pregnancy Pact" 17 girls pregnant in high school
Pathetic and Sad, and the boys may have charges against them - i think the girls should too then.
Also I love how they dont mention in Juno - she gave the baby up and how sad it was for her. Knocked up she had a career and he ended up getting a career and they were both NOT teens.
Jamie lynn spears; however, I dont agree with becuase I feel like the media glorifies teen pregnancy as acceptable cause she had money or her sister does. Pics of her shower and etc.. should NOT be publicized in my opinion.
However, what these girls did was of their own stupidity.

Re: "pregnancy Pact" 17 girls pregnant in high school
Wow - this is unbelievable.
Where have I been that things have changed so much - when did teens stop fearing pregnancy?
When did teens aspire to have a child without a job, without health insurance, without an education?
And it makes my heart shatter when I read comments like 'high-fiving each other' and talking about 'baby showers' - good luck remembering those good times when you are puking all day long or dealing with a crying baby at 1AM, 3AM, 5AM. High five each other then

Re: "pregnancy Pact" 17 girls pregnant in high school
Obviously these girls are not the brightest bulbs in the box ..........NORMAL teenagers have sex, do stupid things without thinking, they think they're invincible, blah blah blah -
I was not 16 THAT long ago that I can't remember what it was like, and I'm sorry, but only a total and complete MORON would PLAN a pregnancy at 16 - ESPECIALLY with zero regard for who the father is. (a HOMELESS man??) Obviously they have no clue re: STDs and HIV, you must have UNprotected sex to get pregnant ........-
These girls are complete idiots. And their parents are probably worse -

Ang as much as things have changed they have not..
Many women aspire to have a child without a job, without health insurace and without an education..
So if grown women still in 2008 do it.. teens in 2008 will also..
so PATHETIC

Why is the school nurse giving them multiple pregnancy tests. Tell them to GTFO after the first time. Our tax dollars hard at work.

Re: "pregnancy Pact" 17 girls pregnant in high school
I read this article yesterday and was so disturbed I emailed it to a bunch of my friends and coworkers. One of my friends grew up north of Boston and is familiar with the area, and said that it's one of those beach resort towns where everyone is either very rich (your summer residents) or very poor (many of the year-round residents), and the school district is abysmal. Many people feel trapped in the town, and that is pretty much what they aspire to. Again, this is from a friend, I know very little about Gloucester.
Now that aside, it blows my mind that this town is only 40 miles from Boston. I guess I’d be less surprised (still surprised nonetheless) if I heard this was happening on an island that is somewhat isolated from the main land, or towns in the middle of nowhere – meaning hundreds of miles from a major city or industrial area. I agree that this is a huge issue with the parents, and along those lines Jamie Spears and movies WOULD affect these kids because they are that uneducated on teen pregnancy. I don’t think your typical teen growing up in suburbia would watch Knocked Up and thing “gee, that looks awesome,” but I wouldn’t be surprised if mainstream culture had some influence on these girls. Although, again you really can’t blame the movies, it’s the parents who didn’t teach them that a movie is a movie, or that the tabloids glamorize a situation and is not a reflection of real life.
Either way it’s sad for everyone involved – the parents who obviously lacked in something, these girls who have NO IDEA what they got themselves into, and these poor babies that will be brought into this situation. Hopefully the parents, town and school do something to help these girls and their babies, and educate their youth going forward.

ITA!!! How empty are these poor girls lives that they could possibly think this is a good idea... for them, for the babies, for anyone! This is really so sad.

I really hope there is a followup after these babies are born and they are dealing with no sleep, responsibilities of raising a child, money, etc.
I dont think they'll be high 5ing each other then. . .

Unreal.
A babyis not an accessory. A baby is a living creature that will change ones life forever. These children are not even thinking if their future or their future baby's future.
So sad.

Re: "pregnancy Pact" 17 girls pregnant in high school
I heard on the TOday show that this school has....get this.....
A DAY CARE FOR THE STUDENTS' CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yet they feel strongly against providing condoms to students w/o parent's permission. So, now tell me.......a 16 year old is sometimes too young and impressionable and we as parents and teachers should be helping to protect them, what kind of message is this school sending sending these kids?
ETA What's sad is that the only ones to suffer are the poor defenseless babies that will grow up to learn they were a product of something so stupid and immature as this.....

I guess there is something to be sad for the unwed teens who, 40 years ago, were sent away to have their babies quietly and away from the public eye.......

Not only was this a stupid thing, they are in for a huge slap of reality and their children are going to be the ones to suffer for it.
