pregnancy-safe tea

There's a store called Teavana in the mall near me and they have really delicious tea but I'm afraid to buy anything without knowing what's safe. Do you think I can trust the people working there to actually know what I can drink???

Re: pregnancy-safe tea

Most herbal decaf teas are safe in pregnancy.

I LOVE Teavana. I have found that they are all VERY knowledgeable about their specific teas and therefore should be able to tell you about each teas, what is in them and the caffeine component of each one. I think all of that information is also listed on the Big tins the tea is stored in as well.

Ask your practitioner if there are any teas they DO NOT recomend you taking and then have fun shopping...

Re: pregnancy-safe tea

definitely ask your dr about herbal teas before you go...

and IMO, nope, I don't trust anyone in shops or salons to be able to tell me what is 'pregnancy safe'. They probably would know what is at least caffeine-free, though.....

Re: pregnancy-safe tea

One of my baby books said no green tea (it interferes with the absorbtion of folic acid) and no peppermint (can contribute to contractions). So, like the op said, I'd talk to the doc first.

Best thing is to ask you practitioner...it is sort of like the food list....every practitioner says something different....

My midwife said I can have chamomile..................
