Pregnancy weeks into months
I have a DS already so its not like I havent been preggers..my SIL is due MARCH 3. She is 30 weeks. She says she's 7 1/2 moths pregnant. I dont think that is right.
I know I conceived end of January (I had an IUI), had DS end of Oct. 9 months. She's saying you're pregnant for 10 months based on 40 weeks. But the 40 weeks is based on date of LMP and you're not pregnant in reality for some of those weeks.
I figure her to be 6 1/2 or 6 3/4 months at this point.
She's going by the 30 weeks = 7 1/2 months. but I dont think that is correct.

Re: Pregnancy weeks into months
I would say she is accurate. You give birth after the completion of 9 months of pregnancy so you reach month 10 when you hit your due date. So 36 weeks would be 9 months pregnant, 32 weeks about 8 months putting 30 weeks at 7.5 months.

Pregnancy weeks into months
I say she's incorrect and you're correct. There are usually like 4.5 weeks per month - you are only pregnant for 9 months.

Re: Pregnancy weeks into months
Everyone seems to count a month as 4 weeks exactly, but it's actually 4.5 weeks. So if we say there's roughly 30 days in a month, she's 7 months exactly at 30 weeks. I have a friend who kept saying she was 6 months at 24 weeks but I don't think that's very accurate. I'n 23 weeks and I say I'm a little under 5 1/2 months.

Pregnancy weeks into months
You are not pregnant 10 months. 4weeks does not equal a month. A month is 4weeks and 2-3 days depending on the month!

thank you. My SIL thinks she f***king knows everything.
She has all of Jan, all of Feb to go..and im like so you'll be pregnant 9 1/2 months if you're 7.5 now?? makes no sense.
February is the only month with 4 exact weeks. We'd have 13 months a year if every month was 4 weeks.

Pregnancy weeks into months
According to the pregnancy charts your SIL is right. She's in her 7 month of pregnancy. 9 months is considered the last 4 weeks of pregnancy from 36-40 weeks

My answer is who cares what the "correct" translation is. I use to just subtract from 9 months if someone asked to avoid the confusion in that you are pregnant for 40 weeks. So if I had 2 months left I said I was 7 months pregnant. Was the right ... Who knows but i doubt that anyone really cared if it was correct or not

Pregnancy weeks into months
I can't sit around and figure out the math. I will be 27 weeks Wed, so I just divide that by 4, so I figure I am almost 7 months. If most months are 4.5 weeks, or you are pregnant 9 months and not 10, who cares, the baby doesn't come on the exact due date anyway.
I just tell people weeks anyway. I never thought anyone would sit around and question my weeks to months, but I guess some do, so I am happy I go with weeks now because if I said 6.5 months, I may get challenged ;)

This is why nobody uses months for pregnancy anymore! 30 weeks pregnant is...30 weeks pregnant.

Re: Pregnancy weeks into months
I think she is right. She may not be 7.5 "calendar" months but if a full term pregnancy is 40 weeks and the average month has 4 weeks then 30 weeks is 7.5 months. Yes the "extra" two weeks they give you by dating your pregnancy from the LMP is confusing, especially for those of us who know exactly when we conceived, but it's legitimately how doctors calculate pregnancy. No one is subtracting those two weeks. A doctor can know exactly when you conceived but they date the pregnancy from your LMP regardless. Sorry, I'm sure she is legitimately annoying for a lot of reasons but I would say she is right here :)

I think I would give her this one bc there are too many variables regarding what constitutes and actual "month". A pregnant month feels like an eternity...so if it makes her feel better to say 7.5, I think I'd let this one slide (no matter HOW annoying she is to you )

Re: Pregnancy weeks into months
I always subtracted from my due date when I needed to refer to how many months I was. So if I'm due 3 months from now I'd say I'm 6 months pregnant.
The only exact way to measure is by weeks, but a lot of people still look at you like you have two heads when you say "I'm 31 weeks pregnant", so sometimes using months is less confusing for people.

Pregnancy weeks into months
plain and simple though....a month is not 4 weeks except for February.
So weeks or months it is still the same amount of time! Time doesn't change during pregnancy

Re: Pregnancy weeks into months
This is the chart your SIL is most likely using and she's almost 8 months pregnant using this.
I'm currently 25 weeks and if someone asks in months, I say 6 months. Image Attachment(s):

This is why doctors talk about pregnancy in weeks vs months because the conversion doesn't make sense. But the chart posted above is what is usually shown for pregnancy
