Pregnant cat owners.......

I was giving my cat his meds and he scratched me. I cleaned it up and put on some Neosporin.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I am just way too nervous.

it's happened to me many times... My cats are indoor cats and I honestly didn't even think to be worried...

Thank you.

I had a problem with my first pregnancy and lost the baby. Ever little thing scares me now.

I think as long as the cat has his/her vaccines and you clean the area well with hot soap and water and a disinfectant, you should be fine, just as if you were not pregnant.

Re: Pregnant cat owners.......

Just as an FYI because I can totally understand why you want to be extra-cautious -- when I was PG I asked my OB if I should be concerned with my cats (both indoor). She told me that since they have always been indoors the chances that i've been exposed to whatever it is that is dangerous is low. However, to ease my mind she sent me for bloodwork to see if they can detect anything. The test was able to see if I was immune to whatever it is or if I had been exposed. It came back that I was not immune but was not exposed. Based on that (and I think I was probably about 12 weeks by then) she said that I shouldn't worry because if I had been exposed to it it would have happened already. So maybe you can request that same test just to ease your mind.
