Pregnant mom/New moms and SCHOOL

So I have a dilema. I am due to have this baby in October. I have ONE more class I need to take in order to apply for a program I want to get into. The deadline to apply is Jan. 1. I need to take this class in the fall. If I don't it delays me an ENTIRE year for school, UGH!

I just don't know how I will manage giving birth, and concentrating on school. Have any of you done it? I won't be working, so it will be just 2 nights a week away from the baby, and trying to pass the class. I am just curious if it can be done? Should I even try?

I am of course assuming all will be going well with pregnancy and birth, obviously if things do not go smoothly, I won't even try.

Any advice appreciated.Chat Icon

Re: Pregnant mom/New moms and SCHOOL

my best friend did it twice!! it can work but YOU have to want to do it, it was our senior year in college and she was not going to put it off since we only had 2 classes to take, she had the babies in March and was back in class 2 weeks later, and finished her student teaching as well... it was not easy for her but she had the support of her family and boyfriend where she could do it... it can be done,,,, good luck!

Take the class.

I would not pospone. I know it might be challenging but if you think about it it's just 2 nights/week.

Re: Pregnant mom/New moms and SCHOOL

i would give it a shot. i'm in grad school now and trying to stay on course, so i don't fall behind in the program. if worse comes to worse, i know i can take an incomplete and hand in my work late. my professors are cool with it.

i'm nervous about next year, because it's a research year and i will have 2 babies home. i will really have to figure out how to manage library time in my day.

good luck!!!

do it - and try and get ahead in the syllabus as much as you can regarding assignments. If there is only one big paper/research assignment for the class - speak with the professor as soon as the class starts about getting the rubric, etc.

Re: Pregnant mom/New moms and SCHOOL

I am not so concerned with lectures and homework, I know I can catch up with that. I am worried about my Labs...no way to make those up really. I think I will register, and see how it goes. May-be talk to the professor, and see what they think, once I know who it will be. Proffessors make all the difference sometimes!

I plan on taking a class this summer, even though I'm due in July. Normally I would take two, but my comprimise is just to take one. I think I can manage it because I want to keep moving forward and I like taking classes. As someone else said if you want it, you will make it happen.

Do it. You will not only appreciate getting it over with, but the adult interaction will be much wanted! Trust me!
