I seriously love that my bowels are on your mind.
Will you send me a recipe?
I am a little better now, but it's not consistent enough for my liking.

I make it vegetarian, so you can add ham if you like. I also make it in the crockpot, so I am not sure how long you need to cook it on the stove. It comes out so thick!!

BEST SPLIT PEA
Ingredients:
3 cups dried split peas
About 7 cups water or vegetable stock
1 bay leaf
½ to 1 tsp dry mustard
2 cups mined onion
4 – 5 cloves garlic, crushed
3 stalks celery, thinly sliced
2 medium carrots, sliced or diced
1 small potato, cut in half lengthwise and sliced thinly
1 tsp salt
Lots of fresh ground black pepper
3 – 4 Tbsp red wine or cider vinegar (balsamic would be good too!)
Preparation
Place all ingredients crock-pot. Cover and let simmer on low setting for 8 to 10+ hours until really thick!
Serve with some crusty bread for a warm and hearty meal!

Hope you don't mind me putting in my 2 cents here...

I have found that eating a bowl of mini wheats works wonders!!! I have had a LOT of trouble the last few months and when I ate that cereal it made such a difference!!!

Add away, the more suggestions the better!
I have tried everything and still not normal!
I only eat fiber type cereals (mini wheats, or kashi), drink water all day, eatting more and more veggies and fruit....and still barely anything!

I do have IBS, so I knew this might be an issue.

Awesome- I was a vegetarian until about 3 weeks ago.
And I have been meaning to use my crockpot.
DH will not touch this stuff with a 10 foot ploe, so I will prob be eating it for a month!

I'm normally not a vegetarian, although I like veggies, I love my meat, chicken, fish too.

I was actually surprised that my DH liked it, although he has to accept that soup was dinner....Just soupChat Icon

it's soooo easy. And to make it easier buy the crockpot liners, so you just remove and throw it out when you are done.

I also use baby carrots, so I don't have to peal anythingChat Icon

OMG those are 2 total me shortcuts.
#1 cleaning sux.
#2 peeling carrots is the worst. I am in danger every time.
I should have my husband peel the carrot- what with all his recent experience waxing his.

That is so funny. I have been craving split pea soup. The other day I told my husband that if it was cooler this weekend I wanted to make it. Chat Icon
