Prenatal care
So we just found out tonight that someone close to us is 6 months pregnant (she is due June 3rd)
She has not been to the doctor due to not having insuarnce or $$ to cover the visit on her own
her 1st doctor's appointment isn't until the end of this month when she will be almost 7 months along
how bad is it that she has not been to the doctor yet??
I am that everything is okay with the baby

Re: Prenatal care
Considering the services offered at Planned Parenthood are greatly reduced and often FREE- there is NO excuse for this.
Is she in denial about this?

Re: Prenatal care
I actually know someone who has had 8 children.
She was told no more kids after her 3rd C-section.
She had a 4th and both her and the baby almost died.
No OB-GYN practice in NJ would take her (she has insurance)... she is way too much of a risk.
I recently found out that she received no pre-natal care for #5, 6, 7, 8.
She has had #5, 6, 7, 8 after walking into the emergency room in full labor.
I have stopped feeling sorry for her a long time ago... she is incredibly irresponsible I feel bad for her children.
for the baby.

Re: Prenatal care
Well, to be honest with you, since I had hyperemsis, I didn't take my prenatal, didn't eat what most people should (or at all some days) and DS was fine.
I hope everything is ok

I am sorry but in this day and age there is no excuse for smoking or drinking while pregnant.
So many children are born with serious issues because of such irresponsible behavior. They are the ones who have to pay for their parent's irresponsibility, sometimes for the rest of their lives.
As someone who had great difficulty getting pregnant and watched everything I ate, drank and did my entire pregnancy such stories make me

I think the most important thing here is focusing on the future. She needs to figure out what she is going to do and take care of herself from this point on.
Stephanie, you are a good friend

Oh, I just remembered something, my BFF's sister didn't have any prenatal care (she lives on a commune, long story) and she had two healthy girls.
Is there a state program she can investigate? do you know the father?

Re: Prenatal care
New York States has free pre-natal care programs and Planned Parenthood is very reduced or free for many women. She made a decision not to have pre-natal are for whatever her reasons are. She will need to look into Healthy New York for her child to make sure that her baby has proper healthcare.
What is really sad that in the richest country in the World people have to even think about paying for healthcare like that. It is a very sad situation in our country.
