Re: Prenatal Vitamins
I think you can start taking them now...just check with your dr. I started mine almost a year before I was TTC. Good luck!!

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
You can start taking them now, you can buy them OTC at GNC, CVS, Eckerds, etc.
Just double check the correct amount of folic acid you need - it's either 400mg or 800mg.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
I take folic acid, not the pre-natals. My Dr. said it was all I needed. I started when we decided to "officially" start ttc.
I don't think any one brand is better than another...

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
When I told my GYN that we wanted to start in the fall, he immediately started me on the PNVs and said they are the best vitamins you can take. He recommended taking them at least 3 months before trying. We jumped the gun a bit, but still can't hurt.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
My doctor gave me PNV and I got visciously sick- puking and all- so he wanted me to take different ones till we found out which one agrees with me and I said NOWAY not after those 3 days of torture sick from 1 vit!!!!! He said that can happen, so I started to take chewable flinstones and 400mg of folic acid- my doc said you take 800 after you are pregnant but before 400 I dont know if it really makes a difference though.

Does Centrum have the folic acid in it? Most multivitamins do, I think. As long as it has 400mg you can take that. If it does, you can take it seperately. Personally, I am bad enough when it comes to taking any vitamin, so I would rather take it in just one.

This is what I take Diane, does it give you an upset stomach or constipated? sorry if asking TMI, I really want to take a prescription prenatal but just so afraid after I got so sick I they gave me caltrate- ??? I thought odd for a prenatal and thats the one that got me sick to my stomach, the first one was this huge purple pill but it made me constipated really bad so I had to stop as per my gastro,. let me know this way I will tell my doctor so he can give me an rx for them. thanks

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
I told my dr. that we wanted to start trying about 3-4 months after I saw him, and he put me on them right away and i've been taking them ever since. I take the chewables and they taste like peach, unfortunately thats the one fruit I hate the taste of.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
When I get home I will look at the bottle. Everything I take has to be really small pills (i.e. bcp) or liquid or chewable. I'll let you tonight.
