prenatal vitamins BEFORE TTC????
I thought pre-natal's were for when you ARE preg.
Should I be taking them 3 months beofore TTC?????????
I thought folic acid was the most important thing?????
Head hurts. Confused!

a lot of people do take them before TTC. I am TTC and am just taking regular one-a-day vitamins.

no hardened rule as such.. if you are a good eater, then you will have all the necessary vitamins and minerals in your body. But that being said, prenatals are there to give you the extra oomph that your body will need prior to conception and during pregnancy (key element being folic acid)
prenatals are just like vitamins, so if you don't take one, you can take a prenatal everyday, or if you do take a regular multivitamin, just take the folic acid tablet

My vitamins I take have 400mcg (100% daily reccomendation) of folic acid.
I eat a LOT of fruits and veggies too.

I haven't been taking folic acid although I am going to start and I take a prenatal at night before I go to bed...if I can remember!

i set the alarm on my cell phone for 12:30 pm so i remember to tak my prenatal

Before I was officially "trying", I took a women's one a day, plus a folic acid supplement.
Once I started really trying, began taking a prenatal vitamin, plus DHA
While I was pregnant I was on an extra folic acide supplement in addition to the prenatal- but now that I'm not pregnant I'm just taking the prenatal with dha and I'll take the extra supplement when I'm pregnant again. The prenatal has plenty.

my stepmoms a nutritionist and she had "the talk" with me
sh said i dont know if you are TTC yet but you have to start taking folic acid.

i am starting today....i figure they can't hurt and doc said 3 months prior to TTC is a good time to start...i have to pick up my Rx - depending on how $$ they are i may do every other day until i am actually pregnant...
