prenatals and folic acid
if your prenatal vit has 1mcg of folic acid, is anyone taking another dose of just plain folic acid? I was taking both but then realized my prenatal has folic acid in it and thought maybe I was taking too much-so I stopped a few days ago. TIA! TO ALL OF US!!!!!

Nope, your prenatal has enough folic acid. I asked my Dr about this too if I needed to take the extra folic acid and she said no, that the amount in my prenatal was enough (same amount as yours).

Re: prenatals and folic acid
1mcg is equivalent to 1000mgs. Most docs seem to want women on anywhere from 400-800mg and others (like mine) want certain patients (like me) but not all on 1000mg. It depends on the individual.

Re: prenatals and folic acid
Your prenatal should have enough, but unlike some other vitamins, your body can dispose of the folic acid above and beyond what it needs.
