Preschool moms - do you get christmas presents for your DC's teachers?

If so, how much do you spend and would you do a GC or an actual gift.

DS has three teachers and would also get a gift for the principal. TIA!

I get each teacher a gift -- spend about $25.00 on each .. and one for the owner as well.

I bought gifts for my DS's preschool teachers last year. I would actually give a gift not a GC just because I do not spend that much money. I usually just get them something small. There are over 6 people at his school that I would like to buy for and I can't not spend a lot. I will spend the most on his teacher and then a very small amount on the rest. I am not sure of the price I will spend.

This is DS's 1st year at pre-school and we will be purchasing his teacher a small gift as well as the director. I HAVE NO IDEA what, but since funds are tight, it will be no more than $25.

we got them GCs last year.

$25 for teacher and $15 for the 3 aides.

Last year I bought them something from bath and body works, I spent around $15 each, and I bought the director a box of candy. He only started school a month before, I didn't really know them well.

This year, his second year there, I'll probably spend a little more. $25 (maybe more) each on his teachers, GCs I guess. I'll still get chocolate for the director.

We are asked not to. The class mom asks each parent to donate a certain amount of money (say $50) and they get one class gift for each teacher and some of the other staff/director. Then we are asked not to do individual gifts.

so wait (sorry to hijack) this is first year of school for my DD , there is 1 teacher, 1 assistant and then there is a principal , so do I get something for all of them?

yes...but it's a small gift b/c I have 3 kids in school and each kids has 3 teachers. This year it's a chocolate covered apple made by my neighbor. she has her own chocolate business.

I don't know what I am going to do this year. Both kids have multiple teachers/aides. I would have to buy for close to 10 people.

Yes I always did. DD had 5 teachers and I spent around $25 on each of them.

I gave vera bradely id holders to each aide with a 5$ DD gc in it. The teacher got a purse with a gc. The id holders were about 5-6 a piece (sale) and the purse was maybe 15?

I don't give the owner anything.. she gets a nice gift from me each month

I spend around $25 on the teacher for the holidays and will probalby spend the same on the 2 assistants. I buy gifts as opposed to gift cards...I like to do something more personal. I don't remember if I gave anything to the director last year...maybe a box of chocolates.

are all getting something small. It's hard to buy for ALL of them, but, we appreciate what they do so much.

Yes, the main teacher I get a $25 giftcard and the assistant teachers get $15.

V - it's still early - are you sure they don't go in and do a group gift - I think several of the schools around us do that. I would make sure that they don't do that before you go and pick things up.

Otherwise - gift cards are always nice, or a small gift. I don't think you need to go overboard. How many teachers does he have?

I like the group gift b.c for us DD had 1 head teacher and 2 assistant teachers - then there is the director and a music teacher and several others.

We do. The amount depends on if there is a class gift or not. I usually give a gc to Target as well as a small actual gift.

We also give $10 gcs to all the specials teachers and a physical gift (usually food) for the directors.

If you don't have a class mom you can organize the class gift if you want. At our school usually one mom sends in a note about it in envelopes and the teachers put them in with the kids work, and then she collects the money and gets the gc.

although money is always tight around the holidays, this is one place i will not scrimp.

DS's teacher will get $25 and the 2 assistants will get $15-20. i don't get the principal anything.

i will definitely do gift cards and not gifts. as a teacher, i know they are more versitile and usable.
