Preschool question...
Since we might be pulling the kids out of daycare and I stay at home part time I still wanted Caiden to go to some kind of preschool to continue learning. Well, most places he's on a wait list since I missed the registrations unfortunately. The decision to take them out was only recently and I had no clue on how things work down here so I missed them. Anyway, Caiden has been learning numbers, letters and a little bit of writing which I think is GREAT. The problem I'm having is that just about every preschool program here for his age is mainly for socialization so they hardly touch the letters, numbers, etc. In the next class when he's 4 he will but not now because of his age (he turned 3 in Jan) he'll have to wait almost a whole other year to get into those classes which I'm really upset about. I think he should be able to go into the older 3's, 4 yr old classes because he's been learning them for a while now and I feel that he'll "lose" what he's been learning? I know I'll be doing it with him at home, I just thought that the classes would be more than "socialization". So far the only class that I've found that does letters, etc is 30 minutes away. It would be closer to when we sell the house and move to that area but we don't know what that will happen. What are your opinions? What would you do? Thanks!

i agree. they are only young once. they will be going to school for the next 18 years. i would just continue teaching him at home. and when he is eligible for prek i would start him then.

Well they do alot when they are 4 getting ready for school. It is not like when we were kids. There are certain things they would like the kids to know before they get to kindergarten. My daughter had a combo of both socialization and learning in daycare and my son is 3 now and gets the same.
