Preschool teacher gift question - if there was a collection for a group gift...

This is my DS first year in preschool so I'm not sure what is the norm. He has 3 main teachers and then there is the principal and some other teachers he has interaction with. We contributed $25 (the requested amount) to the parent group that is going to buy presents for the faculty. But, I'm not sure if this is enough? If other parents are going to be buying presents for the teachers as well I don't want to be the only one that isn't KWIM? What would you do? Would you buy a token gift (like a $25 gc) for his 3 main teachers and the principal? TIA!

I contributed to the class gift, and also got something small from my DD for each teacher. I figured if there was no class collection, I would have spent more than the total they asked for between all the teachers. I think its personal preference...I'm sure there are people who don't contribute to the collection and prefer to get their own gifts too.

Yes, that's sort of how I feel. They only asked for $25 total. That said, I didn't want to be the only one that gave something extra or the only one that didn't KWIM?

What should I get - do you think a GC is a good idea? To starbucks or DD? Or should I do AM EX?

And, what about the principal? She is a nun - if that matters!

If you're unsure, I'd do it. Better to be the only one who gives an extra gift than the only one who doesn't. I think a coffee GC is a great idea! Are the teachers young or older? I'm not sure about the principal..now I'm wondering if I should get something for the director!! Do people usually buy for them too? I hardly even see her and I don't think she has any interaction with my DD.

Yeah, that's what I figured. But, my DH is telling me that its ridiculous!

The principal at DS's school has a lot of interaction with the students and I do as well at all the various school related events and volunteering.

My DD is 4 and in preschool. The class mom collected $10 for 3 teachers and was getting them all gift cards. I thought that was a little on the cheap side so I went to Marshalls and got them each black Isotoner gloves for 9.99.

I personally think $25 is enough. NOone has ever collected that from me, its usually $10. But if you still want to give a gift I think that is up to you.

When we contributed to the class gift i usually got the teacher a small token gift just from my child. Usually around $5 each because #1 you already contributed to the main gift #2 it teaches your child that giving it good.

Our class mom collected $30 from us. That gets split mostly between the 3 teachers (they get gift cards), then a small amount was deducted and pooled to get the director and one other person something. We are asked that if we contribute to the group gift to not give anything separately.
