Do you HAVE to pick the kids up by a certain time, when they close early, or is it just so you can, and so some of the stafff can leave.
I'd imagine it would be a PIA to get there on short notice, but they aren't goign to abanodn the kids (I hope)

Our daycare called at 11:30 and said all children had to be picked up by 3:00 pm.

I am a Pre-K teacher for a University Pre-School. It's a pain in the neck, but once we get word that the campus is closed, we have to call the parents up and they have to pick up ASAP.....today we were told to tell them immediately. It's basically for the welfare of the children, as well as the staff. In our case, since a lot of the parents work for the campus, we have to wait until the campus closes before the director can make her own decision. We ended up closing at 1:00. By the time we called all of the parents, most of them were gone by 1:30 and we were told to leave at 3. The remaining children all get combined...that's how it works in our center....

I was always curious about this too. What if you can't get out of work early, and have no one to pick up your child??

I was always curious about this too. What if you can't get out of work early, and have no one to pick up your child??
The day care here starts calling the people on your "emergency list." If they have to do that a certain number of times in a certain period, no matter the cause, they will remove you from the program.
