Jack Martin (Republican) is running against Carolyn McCarthy (Democrat) for Congress.
I am voting for Martin because of his stance against the 3rd track expansion plans for the LIRR. As a nassau resident who lives in one of the towns greatly affected by this plan, it is the most important issue (for me) in this congressional election. McCarthy has not taken a sufficient stand on the issue in my opinion. I'm meeting her on Wednesday and will ask her exactly what she plans to do regarding the proposed expansion - but right now my vote is with Martin.
eta - I can't believe I wrote that his first name is Rick - it's Jack. . . maybe I was thinking of the singer? sorry!
