Probably - some for the worse - but also some for the better. I dont' necessarily think that's a bad thing.

Re: I wonder after the elections....
It shouldnt be....People have different opinions and views and that shouldnt get in the way of things. Because I dont support a certain candidate doesnt mean I should be attacked for it. It is MY opinion. Knowone should judge others based on that, and if they do, then it is sad.

I agree.
And its not because they have different views. It's because of the way they present their views.

Exactly. I would never look at someone differently for choosing a different candidate. Hell, my DH and I have NEVER voted for the same person.
But some of the things I've read on here....

Re: I wonder after the elections....
I think sometimes it is hard to look past someones political decsions. But mostly in my home life, (friends and family). I try not to talk politics with most people.

Re: I wonder after the elections....
Let me elaborate on what I said - I would never feel differently or judge someone merely because they chose a different candidate than I.
But, I cannot lie that my impression of certain posters are marred when I feel they express some disturbing, ignorant, unfounded, sometimes even racist, thoughts...

Re: I wonder after the elections....
ITA. I am actually surprised at how many people with views that differ from ine I have gained respect for. There also people with whom I ultimately agree that I have decided are just not very nice.
I have to imagine that we're all cringing at the same sets of exchanges and comments---I wish that people wouild realize that before they "go there."
ETA: You also have to wonder about those who "get out the popcorn"--metaphorically or literally and gather around with a hunger for cruelty when people start being cruel....

For me, it has nothing to do with anyone's views. It has everything to do with the way those views are presented, the way people react to other people's views, and the way people treat each other.
The way those things have come out in the political posts has changed my view of several posters - some for better, some for worse. In no case, however, has my view been affected by the person's choice of candidate or political views.

Re: I wonder after the elections....
I definitely see certain people differently when I see snarky, immature and ignorant remarks made just to get a laugh from the people who agree with him/her. Very sad......The one time I agreed with a poster on a "drama" thread, I was basically called a baby and told to grow up. I'm 37, consider myself well-informed on the issues, and never, EVER call anyone here names or belittle someone for disagreeing with me. It seems to be too much to ask for certain posters here, which is why I simply don't get involved on the political threads anymore. Not the drama ones, anyway....

One of my closest friends is a crazy, pot smoking, tattooed surfer chick. BUT - she is insanely religious. Gays are going to hell. Abortions are evil. And she is in the Sarah PAlin fan club. She is so laid back with how she discusses her views and almost apologetic. She is the nices person I ever completely diagreed with. LUCKILY we have a few "safe" areas that we can always agree on.

Re: I wonder after the elections....
it just upsets me that after the facts are presented from multiple sites - the same people continue to post the same lies and ingnorace
I mispoke about Palin not having a passport- I research it and posted that I stood corrected
it seems that some people refuse to research and educate themselves
and that quite frankly is scary and my feelings on those people will never be the same

I agree, its not what you say its how you say it.
It does not bother me that someone does not share the same political views as me, heck DH & I do not support the same candidate, so I can handle having a difference of opinion, but its how you present you thoughts, ideas that matter.
After this I cannot help but see of the people on these boards as extremely ignorant in the way they presnt their thoughts. Some of thier comments are just down rigth ignorant and at times racist. Its scary. And I see them as such now.

It already has. I don't care if someone has the same opinions or values as me but when people get nasty and rude, then I care.

Re: I wonder after the elections....
personally? nah... I rarely 'hold grudges' with people I've had a tiff with.. To be honest, unless you CONSISTENTLY argue with me, I forget people's chat names..
(with regard to negative banter... for the most part, I recognize the people I chat with on a daily basis)
As for whether or not I think other people will? Possibly. But I think it is sad if people cannot look past the past and move on...
