Price for new Oil burner and installation...
Does $4700 sound about right? Then they give us $500 off if we sign another 5 years w/ them and tax return gives us $500 for getting the energy efficient one. So $3700 total?

Re: New Oil burner...
Personally, I think that is high. I would also not want to commit myself to a company for 5 years. Also, aren't they all energy efficient now? I could be wrong.

We paid $3300 this summer. Maybe prices rise in the fall/winter?

We paid $4,000 for a new oil burner and hot water heater 2 years ago in January.

We paid 3k for ours through my step- cousin. But we got quotes from 3 different companies before going with him and they ranged from 3200 to 4500 and it was for whatevery type of boiler we wanted.

Re: Price for new Oil burner and installation...
We did not go through an oil company to get ours, my contractor (originally a plumber) installed it with a separate hot water heater (large capacity because we have an indoor jacuzzi tub). I'm not sure of the model number but it is a Weil-McClane (they are top rated in the industry) and w/ installation it came out to be $6,700.
Most oil companies will install "builder's burners" which are the lower end, not as efficient models. They will give you a cheaper price up front knowing that they will make up the difference in the higher cost of oil if you have a contract with them or in your payment plan.
So what sometimes seems like a bargain may not necessarily be so. In less than two years we should break even on the extra cost of the burner because we pay COD. It also runs a lot more efficiently so it saves on oil that way.
Good luck in your search and make sure you get quotes with exactly what they are planning to put in so you can compare apples to oranges.
