Price of Gas
The price of gas is making me sick to my stomach. I have an SUV and it is a fortune for gas. It cost about 70.00 to fill up and last week it cost me 170.00 for the entire week and I feel like I hardly go anywhere.
So, how much is everyone paying for gas these days???

Re: Price of Gas
I pay about $35-$40 a week, I have a 6 cyl car. DH however spends at least $50 a week since his car needs premium.
I would LOVE an SUV but no way am I buying one with gas prices these days

Re: Price of Gas
Isn't it awful to think if we saw $2.99 we'd think that was CHEAP!
I have seen $3.25-3.39 yesterday! I can't believe it! My pocketbook cannot wait for Labor Day to be here and done.

I have a Ford Escape. I try not to let it get down really low. Usually it costs me about $40 to fill it.

I have an SUV and I spend about $45/week - week 1/2 on gas. I'm lucky that I now only live 9 miles from work.

Re: Price of Gas
FYI for all of you who live near Hauppague or Islandia... Vets hwy gas stations have the cheapest gas around IMO!!
Exxon, Citgo and Getty on Vets Hwy are always cheaper than anything else in the area.

Re: Price of Gas
I live in NJ and gas is cheaper here, BUT it's still over $3.00 per gallon! I have a little Mazda Protege that costs me almost $40 to fill, DH has an SUV and will only put the good stuff in it.
I've given considerable thought to taking the train to work, since the train station is behind my building and we have a shuttle service in our community that for $1 a ride will take you to the train station in town.

Re: Price of Gas
We have two honda civics and it costs about $30 for each car. We fill 2 -3 three times total during the week - so $60 to $90 per week
I remember when we could fill the car for $20 - and it seems like that tank of gas lasted me much longer.

Re: Price of Gas
We spend about $80 per week for both cars. We both work about 25 miles from home, too. We try to carpool when we can-usually 2 or 3 times per week. It helps a little that both cars are somewhat fuel efficient-they get about 25-30 miles to the gallon. These prices are still killing us, though! I remember my being almost on E and still only taking $20, now with a quarter of a tank it takes $25.

Re: Price of Gas
I'm in NJ and we go to the Delta that is about $2.89 per gallon still. However, it still takes $30 for us to fill it up. I am very happy that when I bought this car 5 years ago I paid attention to fuel economy- it was important to me even then, when gas was cheap.

Re: Price of Gas
It costs me nearly $70 to fill my tank (I have a GMC Envoy). I have cut back my long trips considerably and combine errands into one trip if possible. It sucks!! But with 2 kids and all thier gear, I need something on the bigger side.
ETA: Last time I filled up, I got it filled on the south shore (Lynbrook and paid $3.19) which is far better than up by me where its $3.39!!

Re: Price of Gas
Not sure what I'm paying- I drive my car so seldom now that I'm on summer vacation from school- I think I have filled the tank once in the last month. DH and I do all our errands in one trip and we take his car. Luckily we chose two cars that do well on gas. In the fall when we go back to work we are going to carpool on the days our schedules match up. It'll save gas and I'm also glad to have company on the trip.

Re: Price of Gas
During the school year it was costing about $55/week (I fill up once a week). Now that I'm on summer vacation, I really don't go to far from home so my gas costs are pretty low.

Re: Price of Gas
We have a saturn vue which costs about $35-40 to fill up. Luckily we don't drive too much lately so we don't need to fill up too much. I think there's just under a half a tank from two weeks ago.

Re: Price of Gas
my husband spends about $120 or more a week in gas. he drives to the city everyday. So between the gas and tolls, it's ridiculous.
