Prince Harry Not Going to Iraq
Britain's Prince Harry will not be dispatched to Iraq, reports the BBC, quoting the head of the British Army.
In February, it was reported that the prince, 22, a trained reconnaissance troop commander, looked forward to serving in the war-torn nation with his regiment, the Blues and Royals, despite the security threat.
However, the Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Richard Dannatt, confirms in a statement released Wednesday that Harry will not go.
"Following a visit to Iraq last week I discovered a number of threats relating directly to Prince Harry and those around him and I am not prepared to export those risks."
He added, "I know Prince Harry will be extremely disappointed and his soldiers will miss his presence in Iraq."
However, Prince Harry's military career can still go forward, according to Sir Richard. "I've asked his commanding officer to develop his future career but I won't speculate on that," he said. "One of the contributing factors to my decision has been the knowledge and discussion of the Prince's deployments in the media."

I'm so glad he's not going. He would be all those troops in danger.
I agree. I'm glad he wants to go, but I think its best he doesn't.

I agree. But I admire him for trying. I am not sure how many others would take such a stand.

I was so expecting a different story! I was expecting to read that he refused to go, and I'm glad I was wrong!
