Private health insurance...question
Those of you privately insured..meaning you pay for your own plan not provided for by an employer...
I applied for United Health as I quit my FT job..working part time, but no benefits. DH is insured through his job now but its sooooo much $$ to add me on; DS is insured through PA state (or will be..we are in the process).
They called to follow up on some questions regarding PT treatment i had for my back like 5 years ago, and my pregnancy last year.
Can they deny me based on having back issues? I told them I consider the issue resolved as excercising is the only thing that helps my back pain;
I feel like this is going to be a reason for them to deny me coverage when in fact I see a dr. maybe 2 x a year for checkups and not much else.

Are you in PA?
Some states can deny you coverage for pre-existing conditions. In NY if you have had continuation of coverage with a lapse in coverage for under 60 days no pre-existing conditions will be in effect.
At least this is my understanding.
They may not deny you, they just may not cover expenses related to your prior medical issues.
Or, they may approve you and this is just how they go about collecting info.

Not to start up drama again on the subject but this is why we need some sort of health insurance for everyone that includes pre-existing conditions.
