Private Pay Speech Therapy?

Has anyone every paid for speech therapy on their own? our DS was evaluated last week and he didnt' qualify for services (he's 2) so I'd like to pursue private pay therapy.

Has anyone done this? Recommendations appreciated (we are in central Nassau)!

I know Adelphi offers speech services, just not sure of the cost.

I have done it and was very impressed with our therapist. I dont live in NY anymore though. We paid $12 a session the rest covered by insurance.

Yes we are paying someone privately. She is wonderful! We have seen a lot of improvement in a short time.

we are using them for feeding therapy. There is an office in Wantagh. They take insurance..

Yes I pay the copay every visit and the insurance pays the rest....its in queens though ....my dd has gotten services this way through insurance since she was 19mos old... she is now 3

my son didnt qualify at 2 either & we paid out of pocket for private speech. worth every single penny we spent & i LOVED my son's therapist! when he turned 3 he qualified for services through the school district, so this past november we stopped seeing his private therapist and i was so upset bc she is amazing! i actually just spoke with her yesterday bc she called to see how he was doing

she is located in islandia so i know thats probably not convenient for you

It was covered under insurance so we payed co-pays each week. We went to a place but I can't recommend to you since we live in suffolk.

Just want to thank everyone for their suggestions! I am checking out the toddler group at Hofstra and calling Adelphi and the name suggested here. Glad to know others have had great experience and went this same route with a DC that didn't qualify.

have you gone through your insurance?

with ds#2 he missed EI by 7 points. So we went through our insurance and did speech for 4 months. We just had him re-evaulated by EI and he qualified.
