problems new teachers face...

after having a conversation with a friend of mine who is a principal in another state (Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon why haven't i moved there yet), he honestly admitted that he wouldn't enter the education sector now knowing things are the way they are (just one issue new teachers would face).

how freaking depressing. i know it's tough out there (understatement I know) but honestly, i really really really want to teach!

I am graduating this semester with my masters in childhood education/special education. It is tough and a little heart wrenching because i know the journey ahead. I always wanted to teach and 1.5 years ago I quit my career and pursued my dream. Things will change but you have to be patient and hope for the best.
Good luck!

Re: problems new teachers face...

I tried to warn my cousin who was in college for teaching that it was getting very rough to find a job and those that do face many more stresses than we previously thought.

She was luckily hired in NYC as an ESL teacher but its not what position she wanted.

There are so many things that stress me out that I never even knew about when I was just starting this career...I would definitely go back and change my path!

I have been excessed after 10 years!! I am making 1/3 of my salary in a long term sub spot. It is so depressing.

I am 70 grand in debt from student loans only to be a 28 yr old who tutors sometimes. How embarrassing. Most of the people I graduated with moved out of state for a teaching job (starting off at $25k) or still subbing.
