Professional Pictures

At what age was the first time you brought your child to get pictures taken?

Where did you go?

Did you like them? If not, why?

And which place would your recommend?

Sorry for all the questions - I just want to get everyones opinion.

Actually one more question - how often do you go back and get more pictures done? For instance, did you go when you baby was a couple of weeks and then go again at a couple of months, or only at 1 year old?

I waited til Hayley was 6 months old (that is when she first started to sit on her own). I will go again for her 1st birthday. I went to the Sears photo studio in Sun Vet Mall, they were great! They didn't try to push me to take the big package and they were helpful in picking the pictures. I am definetly going back to them again.

Andrew was a month old when we went. I will go back when he is 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year and then just for holiday's and his brithday.

Before he is a year I will take him for all the holiday's too. It shouldn't cost me that much

We went to Kiddie Kandids in Massapequa and will go there again

At 3 months I went to JC Penneys for Jared's first pics. I thought they were very nice. Not very interesting backgrounds though....but then againm you can't do much with a 3 month old.

I took Katie to KK in COmmack BRU at 2 mos and it was disaster. I'll take her back around 6 mos I think.

First time was one month and I took her to a photographer's studio which didn't work out so the woman came to my house a few days later. The pictures we OK but overall I wasn't impressed.
At 2 months we went to a place called Portrait Innovations (kind of like your Kiddie Kandids) and had Christmas and some family pictures done since her cousin was in town.
I ended up skipping 3 months.
For 6 months I had a professional photographer/friend come to the house since she was running a portfolio building special and she did a great job and spent so much time with us. It was so nice to be realxed and not feel rushed at all.
I wanted to do that again for 9 months but it was just too pricey so I'm saving it for 1 year. For 9 months back to Portrait Innovations we went and they did a good job again.
After her 1 year I guess I'll do Christmas and Easter at Portrait Innovations and then use the professional photogrpaher at the house once a year.

We just went to Picture People, DD is 2.5 months old. we joined the portrait club so we get discounts throughout the year. I plan on taking her back at 6 months, 9 months and 1 year.

I'll probably take Alex when he is about 6-7 months. Most likely it will be around the Holidays.

I was wondering when everyone did this for the first time too! thanks for posting this

DD is 6 weeks old and I want to take her - but Im afraid they wont really be able to do all that much with her just yet.

My cousins and SIL all use KK and are very very happy there - but say they are a bit pricey. They suggested using sears or Pennys in the beginning mths because its cheaper - and then use KK when she is a few mths older and I can take advantage of their props and backrounds more.

I went to Sears arounnd 3 months and it was a disaster.

I want to try again tomorrow- she is just about 8 months.
