Re: progesterone
Yes you can pee :) lol The suppositories are just "annoying' and a bit "yucky". This last time I was on a lower dose and they didn't 'leak' as much. You need to insert it, and lay down awhile after, so they have time to get absorbed more. You may feel as if you have AF at times, since there can be "leakage".
They can delay AF !!!! They always delay my AF. So, after your 2ww, take a hpt or go for the beta to either see if you are pregnant or not, and if you do get a bfn , stop taking them.
Oh and keep them refrigerated....I think lol
I had them delivered from kraupners and noone told me to refrigerate them. Then I had different ones from a rockville center pharmacy for some reason they cost more and had to be refrigerated...go figure ?

Re: progesterone
exactly what redstart said. They may aslo give you symptoms of bloatingness, sore boobs, so it may feel like you are getting AF. I was also moody when I took them.

Maybe they should have a half way house for moody TTC'ers!

Re: progesterone
Baby dust to you Pauline.
I'm just curious on the progesterone with IUI as RSONY has never mentioned that I should do this and I have had 3 unsuccessful IUI's with clomid. My diagnosis is unexplained infertility.

Re: progesterone
You have fm kathy.
It's quite interesting what's going on at RSofNY with progesterone.
When I first, went, they did a 7 dpo progesterone test. I think perhaps, they wanted to know if I indeed "ovulated". Okay, well I did ovulate, but the progesterone was low.
I just automatically called in for the p4 test, and have had it done ever since.
When I had IUI done, Dr. Sung, said...okay, well use a hpt in 14 days and if it's positive come in for bloodwork. I said, "My progesterone is always low, shouldn't I come in for a p4 test in 7 days". She said...ummm "good idea" lol. Well lo and behold the progesterone was low , again. They prescribed, 200 mg of suppositories, 2x a day. In the past, I was on 400 mg 2x a day. I asked Dr. Saketos why did it change ? Why did they lower it ? She said, "400 mg is what we give for IVF patients".
Go figure, ...I never had IVF, but was prescribed 400, for several months.
I must say, this bothered me. Progesterone suppositories are controversial. Noone really knows if they work or not. I happen to think, they do work. I also think the 400mg work for me more than the 200mg. This cycle, they are going to start me immediately on 200mg,...3 dpo and then I will get tested 7 dpo for my level, and if it's not high enough, they will raise the dose. I am not sure I am comfortable with that....I personally rather take the 400mg, and call it a day.
I feel like the information on this topic is very 'limited'. I have spent countless hours trying to find 'answers' to my questions. When I ask my Re about it, she merely says, that each person has their individualized level, and that,. by using ...drugs, like clomid/femara, they try to get more follies to grow to produce more progesterone. I took femara last cycle and I am trying the next protocol for it this one. I just hope something adjusts my progesterone level.
I also have no signs of lack of progesterone, which is interesting. My temps are always very high and above the coverline, my LP was 14 days prior to progesterone use, with progesterone Af can be delayed a week. Usually a person equates luteal phase defect with lack of progesterone.
Dr. Beer, who is a Reproductive Immunologist, highly recommends the use of suppositories. I have done a lot of research on what this Dr. has done, and I am quite impressed. I wish he was located in NY. He is in Los Gatos, CA. I may ask if he has any affiliates here in NY.

Re: progesterone
I basically had to ask for them, and they said it cant hurt so she gave them to me. And this is also after 3 unsuccessful IUI's.

Re: progesterone
Thank you all for the info. Redstar...you are a wealth of knowledge.
I'm sorry ladies but I just think it's crazy that we have to tell our RE's what our treatment should be. Shouldn't it be the other way around? They are supposed to be the pro's at this...
Very frustrating!
BD to you

Re: progesterone
My RE told me to ease into the suppositories. Take them starting at 3 dpo. If you take them right away after O, it can be too much too soon. If you take them too late, which what I think may be my problem....implantation can be trying occur, and the uterus may not be ready for it.
You take them 2x a day, once in the am once in the pm.
Btw, how many mg are yours, Pauline ? What pharmacy did you get them from, what do yours look like ?
