Progesterone Supplements

Hi,

Have any of you had to be on progesterone supplements for your first few weeks? They called me today after my bloodwork (I am 4wks 5days) and I had a nice rise in my HCG and while my progesterone was in normal range they said it was on the lower end.

Long story short I have to take a progesterone supplement via a vaginal suppository each night. They didn't seem concerned and told me not to worry, it's just a precaution.

Do you guys have any similar experiences? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!!!!

My progesterone was very low at my blood test. I was put on progesterone suppositories until I was 12 weeks along. They are icky and sometimes inconvenient but otherwise, it is no big deal. Just remember to lay down for 20 minutes after you have "inserted" the suppository to give it time to absorb. I usually did one at night before bed and one in the morning. I am now 18 weeks.

i was on progestrone for 10 weeks. i got pg with IUI and my dr said it was standard at her office.

I took them for 10 weeks because I am a chronic m/c'er. After 4 m/c's he finally gave me Progesterone suppositorie and a blood thinner and this one stuck! If it is a question, I say take them. Thank God your Dr. is on top of things!

Thanks guys for the responses! I am picking up the prescription this afternoon and I will start them tonight. The doctor said I will stay on them until around 10 weeks. I don't mind taking then, I'd rather be on the safe side and ensure everything goes well with this pregnancy. That's the most important thing!!

I was on Progesterone Supplements until I was 10 weeks...I got PG through IVF.
