Progesterone while nursing???
Forgot to ask my dr or pharmacist. I was prescribed progesterone suppositories and I still nurse my 2 year old at night. Is it safe? I am going to wait until tomorrow to start so I can call and ask, but was wondering if anyone here had any experience?

Re: Progesterone while nursing???
I don't believe progesterone supplements would cause any issues breastfeeding because it is a natural hormone your body produces anyway during pregnancy, and many women are put on it as a precaution.

I can only tell you that I chose to take it (crinone suppositories). You could check the prescribing info, but my guess is it said something like they don't know the effects or consult your Dr. I think before taking I checked Lactmed and read something about progesterone and also did some googling and found others had taken it while nursing.

Call the infant risk hotline. That's what I did when I needed to take a questionable medication when DS was 2 weeks old.
