PSA - I know why they cry
So, I caught coxsackie from DD. It's going around her day care. She just got a touch of it & she over it already but I got it full blown. Wanna know what your little ones are going through? (it should be noted that every Dr I saw said it was odd for an adult to catch it like I did, so don't panic that you're going to get it)
Wed- out of nowhere, I felt the flu. 102 fever, shivering, body aches & pains, hurt to swallow. Went to urgent care, they said I had a virus.
Thur - same as Wednesday but worse. Unable to get off the couch. Mouth & throat kill, Unable to eat or swallow.
Fri- fever breaks but I feel funny. My hands feel tingly. Still can't swallow. I go see an ENT Dr. She said I can't swallow b/c I have lesions on my tonsils & soft pallette. I have coxsackie. She shows me the roof of my mouth, which is bright red & raw with blisters. She warned I may break out on hands & feet.
Saturday - The skin on my hands feels to tight for my body. I can't make a tight fist. I drop things a lot. My hands are week. By Sat night, the bumps begin.
Sat night - I can't sleep. The itching on my hands & feet is unbearable. It's not just an itch, it pierces. I am crying. Nothing helps. Nothing topical. I go for the big guns. I take a vicodin. Doesn't make a dent. I drink cough syrup with codeine. Nothing. Up all night clawing at my hands & feet. Feels like the worst pins & needles.
This morning - my hand & feet are all broken out in red bumps. In between my fingers is blistered & crusty. The itching is non stop. the only thing helping is dunking my hands in a bowl of ice & water.
No wonder the little ones cry so much. I am on day 5 with no end in sight

Re: PSA - I know why they cry
I worked at a daycare center in an infant room and wound up getting this while I was in college. I went to the dr and I swear they thought it was the weirdest thing ever that an ADULT had it.... apparently your immunity has to be really down for you to catch it.
Anyway...I DID hear that it is worse when adults get it, but still---those poor babies!!!!

Re: PSA - I know why they cry
That is just awful! You probably got an even worse case than a child since its horrible in adults. Like getting chicken pox as a teenager or above.
You poor baby! I pray you have some relief soon!

Re: PSA - I know why they cry
Feel Better Soon!! I had coksackie when I was about 7 or 8 and it was the WORST! I can still remember very clearly how painful it was. I remember doing a gargle rinse to help numb/soothe my throat. Maybe they still have it.

For a sore throat... my mother always had us gargle with warm salt water (so salty it tasted like ocean water) was that what it was?

Yes, I did get that. The Dr called it "magic mouth wash" and no joke, it says that on the prescription bottle. It has lidocaine it in but I don't know what else. It def helps my throat & mouth but nothing can stop the shooting pains in my hands & feet
