PSA - Sprinkler Installation & Your Garden

Ok, I will chaulk this one up to "lessoned learned", but I'm not too happy about it either.

We are getting sprinklers installed. Well it would be nice if the contractor would have told us that when they have to dig in the garden beds, they will have to dig out some of the plants and put them back. Well they didn't tell us and they don't put bushes/plants back together very well. We will fix them tomorrow, but I really hope they all live. Chat Icon It just seems like you don't know what you are getting yourself into and god forbid the contractors would explain things in detail. We couldn't be home all day to watch over the work, so when I got home I find a really large rock on top of half of a Hosta. Give me a break, did you not see the plant. OK, I know Hosta's are hard to kill but that isn't the point really. We spent a lot of money on the plants that we bought 2 years ago and they are established plants at this point. I'm going to have to play nice with them tomorrow and hope they live. The garden beds are a mess right now. Dirt piled up to close to the plants, mulch is gone now too. So that is my story! I hope this helps someone else out that might be doing this project at their home. If you have empty garden beds and you want to put sprinklers in in the future, I would wait on the plants this year and get the sprinklers done first. Now we have to fix things. Great tip! I know the feeling about someone destroying your plants.

I established a lot of beds for the past 2 years. Its' now really coming out nice.

I would have been ****** too.

I know hostas are cheap but we spend so much time looking for the right plant, taking care of them, and the joy we get when all our work pays off the following year and the plant is exactly how we want it to look.
