I totally agree.
And what gets me is that you posted it "expecting" people to have an open mind about it - but you yourself didn't have an open mind about someone else's opinion.
As for what the reactions would be like in another country - you can't generalize like that. I live in the UK and would bet that if you showed that photo here you'd get the same mixed reactions. And I also don't think it's fair for anyone to assume that anyone's reaction to that photo has anything to do with their politics. I happen to be quite liberal, but I still think it's distasteful.

The vast majority of the posts on that thread were NOT against it (or calling it kiddie porn) until you posted this thread. When you posted this thread, 3 out of 20+ posts were saying something negative about the picture. All this succeeded in doing is drawing more attention the drama. Had you just addressed this solely within that thread, there would have been a whole lot less drama. All this did was draw people who don't frequent the Home board over there to take a look - and to fuel any drama that was going on.
