PSA: for Catholics going to mass tomorrow
They did a second collection to help out with the costs of the Pope's visit. Just wanted to give you a heads up because sometimes I only bring money for one collection.

I wonder if this is only in NY? b/c I already have an envelope for 2nd collection for the sisters' retirement... If there is a third collection, I'll be shocked.

I was at the Papal Rally today in Yonkers...and it was awesome. but all i have to say it must have cost the Archdiocese thousands.... they had shuttle buses out the wazoo, free water and food, programs, etc. etc. as well all the Audio-visual, stage prep. entertainment, etc.

And they have the money to do it!!!!!! Don't be fooled! The Catholic Church is the wealthiest corporations in the WORLD! It really makes me angry that they are always crying poverty! UGH!!!!! Don't even get me started on how they treat the sisters that retire! It is truly a sin! They should be ashamed of themselves!
Okay, rant over!

ok, this was addressed to CATHOLICS, why would you even open the post if you feel such negative feeings toward the church and have left the church. Honestly, this is such a holy time for many of us, keep your negative, UNRELATED comments to yourself.

Re: PSA: for Catholics going to mass tomorrow
Wow
Okay first of all this was a PSA to Catholics who are going to mass today, Sunday. . . which means they are believers and followers of the church
Anyway, the Catholic Church is Wealthy HOWEVER each parish is run from its own funds - through the generosity of its parishoners ONLY so that is an entirely different matter
AND having the Pope here is the greatest honor that can be bestowed upon us - so to throw an extra $5 in the collection basket IMO is not such a big deal
I cant believe my post which was to serve as a friendly reminder - turned into drama, i am prety disgusted and i wish i hadnt read this right now bc i was having a very peaceful day watching all of the preparation for the Pope's mass
OH YEAH and while the Catholic Church is VERY wealthy - it is ALSO EXTREMELY charitable with its wealth. . .

Re: PSA: for Catholics going to mass tomorrow
You know, it is never a "must donate money" deal with the catholic church. They accept what they can, and if you don't have you are not shunned. So who cares if there is a second collection??
It is fine to not like the catholic church, but the horribly negative comments are pretty disheartening to some people who still practice and appreciate their faith. There is MUCH good about the church.

I am not sure how you meant this. I posted this reminder because I know that I do not like when I go to church with money for ONE collection and there are TWO that I would like to contribute to. Of course, no one has to contribute if they don't want to but it was just supposed to be a reminder if you DO want to donate. That's all.
ETA: and I totally agree with what you wrote in the second part.

I was agreeing with you and posting about the negativity of others regarding the catholic church as a whole..nothing against what you said!! The reminder was very welcome!
