PSA--If You have to go to the bathroom---GO!

I have had a very very painful past 3 weeks...after a million doctors, tests, and exams, it turns out I had fecal impaction--stool impacted so deep inside me. For me, its not from not going to the bathroom, but one time I was scared to death to go because of the pain, and apparently, it spiraled out of control.

I had to see a colorectal surgeon who helped me out, was a VERY VERY VERY VERY painful procedure, and I still shudder and get teary eyed when I think about this. Chat Icon I am on the road to recovery, but its a very slow moving road, as they cannot give me any pain killers because that will block me up again...Chat Icon

I just wanted to make a PSA to advise people not to hold it in when you feel the need to go to the bathroom...

Please keep me in your thoughts, as I struggle to feel better..I now am feeling "contractions" as my body gets back to normal, and it should take at least 2 weeks....I am so upset over this, and not to mention, its kind of humiliating to discussChat Icon I have kept pretty private about this, but I feel a little better speaking about it though.

TIA for any prayers you can send my way, I have been praying like CRAZY latelyChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: PSA--If You have to go to the bathroom---GO!

It is horrible. I just wish my mom lived out here in Rhode Island. Its just DH and I out here. He has been awesome...so awesome words cannot express, but there is nothing like having your mom there for that extra TLC. I thank god every day that I have such a great support system, without them, I would be nowhere.

Thats why I posted...I have read all the threads about people "waiting" b.c do not want to go at work, etc...well, I would go ANYWHERE if it meant avoiding this.

Prior to this, I also was shy going to the bathroom at other places than home...now..I have no inhibitions after the eyeful the doctor got! BUt, I would recommend him to the world--he was great and very nice and comforting..I just wish they could give me drugs....he said its the kind of thing some people need OXYCONTIN for.......some strong stuff

it is such a sad thing that women do to themselves ( not in your case - i mean in general ) I have heard people at my job talking about how "disgusting" some woman was bc she actually USED the restroom for one of its very purposes!! They were joking about how she didn't have a bathroom at home and had to do her business at work! So you can imagine how I avoid that bathroom - sometimes for almost 11 hours a day!!!! I just never understood it!

I cant even imagine what that must have been like - and something i never really realized could happen!

So sorry you are going through this. Keep in mind that things will get better. You are recovering and that's the good news.

I, for one, will go anywhere anytime. I have no inhibitions.

I agree, if you have to go-GO!

Feel better sweetie.Chat Icon

Re: PSA--If You have to go to the bathroom---GO!

he did give me a prescription for a cream that is cortizone and lidocaine, but can only use it 2 times a day...when i use it, it numbs my insides for a few hours, but then it wears off.
