I was so upset about not being able to get a regular Flu Shot for Brody because our Ped ran out. I called Suffolk County Health Dept and they gave me info for vaccines.

They provide ALL immunizations plus regular Flu and Swine Flu Vaccines to all children and adults. They are free if you have no insurance, or $21 if you have covg ( you mail in recpt to be re-imbursed).

I went today to a clinic that they held in a church basement in Bayshore. I thought it would be a nightmare, but it was not at all.

They were starting at 9:30 am. I got there at 9 and signed in. You can sign up for just Flu vaccines or for all vaccines that you or you child need to get.

Registered Nurses administer the shots and handle the paperwork.

Children 6 months and up can get the Regular Flu shot.
Children 2 and up can get the Swine Flu Nasal Vaccine.
Children under 2 need an actual shot for Swine Flu, but they won't have that for a few weeks. All children need 2 doses of either shot or spray for Swine Flu.

They will be doing this program again on Wed, Oct 28th from 9am-2 pm at Saint Patrick's Church in Bayshore.

Thanks for sharing! We all did manage to get the seasonal flu shot, and I'm still not quite sure about swine flu.

If we decide to get that one but can't obtain it through our doctors, I'll try Nassau County when the injectable version arrives.

I was going to go to the vaccine clinic that was held today but unfortunately, they only have the FluMist (nasal) type right now and I cannot take that type.

the number for adult vaccinations is 853-3055 and tyour name goes on a waiting list for High Risk individuals...they will have them next week...
