PSA: SWIM FLOATIES..SCARY THING HAPPENED LAST WEEKEND!!
Forget to tell you guys:
So John loves the big pool now.. so Saturday we went to go in and I put his floaties/swimmies on his arms.. he got really upset and crying for NO APPARENT REASON... all of a sudden he didn't want to go in the pool...sobbing!! So I knew something was hurting him!!
Long story short..he wasn't moving his left arm! I called the ped.. told them what happened she said I'll have the dr. fit you in...sounds like "NURSE MAIDS ELBOW"
I asked what that was..she told me and she said we'll have to pop it back in place!!
DH and I rushed him to the ped (5 mins away) while Im crying thinking about them POPING MY SONS ELBOW BACK IN PLACE!!
ok long story short AGAIN... dr. came out into the waiting room..took his arm and moved it twice and said 'OK DONE" Two seconds later he was fine.. dr. poped a ligament back in his arm that had snapped out of place while pulling his arm to ge the floaties on!!
that instant..John was fine and movig his arm like nothing happened!!
BECAREFUL WITH THEIR LITTLE ARMS!!! wet the arm with the floaties or inflate them when they are on the arm first!!!
Just fyi!!

those are the ones I was using!!
It was just the motion of holding the floatie and the arm and pushing that did it.

This used to happen to my niece a lot.
But with her it was from an adult holding her hand while walking and she pulled away and it popped out.
They say that once it happens once they are more suseptible to it happening again so be careful.
It happened twice with her.
It's always something to worry about isn't it?

exactly.. that's why it's called "nursemaids elbow" Dr. said nurses held the kids hands while walking and then they would drop to the ground b/c they didn't want togo withthem..and pop!! came right out.
Dr. said he can pop it back in one more time.. but the third time hed' need to see an ortho.

Yes that happened to my DD#1. She went running for the big pool I caught her and grabbed her hand. She then threw herself on the ground while holding my hand and got that. VERY upsetting. Luckily it has never happened again. I was very upset at the time but was surprised b/c apparently it had happened to many of my friends and I never knew it.

we think this happened to my dd once, but she got it back in herself. she was about to throw herself down near something and hit her head, so I grabbed her arm. she started screaming like never before and wouldnt move her arm. we took her to the hospital, but by the time they saw us, she was 100% fine. they said it was probably nurse maid's elbow and she popped it back in herself.

This happened to DD when she was 7 months old. I felt so bad for her, but she was fine literally the second it was popped back into place.

I was going say once it happens it can happen a lot. You could just be holding his hand and if he pulls away from you the wrong way it can pop out
