PSA: What I wish someone told me when I was PG
Hi Ladies! Hope you are all feeling well!!
I am almost 16 mos PP. During my pregnancy, like everyone else, my gums bled a little. I thought nothing of it. The kept bleeding after I had my son, but again, figured it was normal.
I went to the dentist today and I have 6 cavities!! AND now I have a bad gum infection, because I never took care of it!! (It is hard to find the time, and usually low on the priority list)
Soooo... long story short...
Please keep your regular dentist appointments AND you may want to ask your OBGYN about calcium supplements, especially if you crave a lot of juice, or can't stomach dairy well. The baby pulls all of the calcium from you. BTW - I was a HUGE dairy fan while pregnant (still am) and the dentist says he sees it all of the time.

THank you!
I am curious though, what does juice have to do with it - I am drinking a gallon a day!

Juice is acidic - can erode the enamel on your teeth. That + baby taking all of your calcuim= easier for cavities to form

Yep! I thought we weren't allowed to go to the dentist for some reason But I was having a toothache and asked my OB-he said to DEF DEF DEF go. Glad I did-I had to have a root canal.

Re: PSA: What I wish someone told me when I was PG
This! I never had a cavity in my life until I was pregnant with my first. I went right after giving birth & had like 4 or 5. My brushing habits hadn't changed AT ALL so I was . The dentist told me that pregnancy drains calcium for many women.
I didn't really learn though because I still didn't go while I was pregnant the second time (I have a fear of the dentist ) & I think I have another cavity.
