Pubic Symphysis Diastasis??

Has anyone had this or heard of this?

I have been complaining for weeks, on here and to DH Chat Icon, about really bad pain that is a combination of feeling like someone kicked me down there and I'm all bruised to someone pulling me legs and bones apart. It hurts to get in and out of bed, pick up my legs to get dressed, get in and out of a chair, etc. I told my OB about it and she mentioned pubic symphysis diastasis.

http://pregnancy.about.com/od/symptomsofpregnancy/a/pubicbonepain.htm

It is very painful and apparently doesnt go away until I have the baby. Another 3 weeks, I am just nervous it is going to get worse b/c I can barely walk now. Chat Icon

ETA: If you had this, did it go away after giving birth? How long did it take?

Re: Pubic Symphysis Diastasis??

I could have sworn I had this when I was pregnant. It started early too - like around week 16-17. I couldn't roll over in bed without crying in pain!
The moment I gave birth - the pain was gone!!!

I feel the same way and didn't know there was a name for this! I didn't have this with my last pregnancy either. I just keep telling myself it'll all be worth it at the end! Chat Icon

Yes, I've had it since week 20. I am now 7 days from my due date and it is pretty awful. Take it easy Chat Icon Chat Icon I wish there was something we could do for it.

Re: Pubic Symphysis Diastasis??

Its nice to know i'm not alone with the pain when rolling over at night. I make sure i really want to turn before I do it. I had a similar pain with DS#1. This time it started earlier though - I think around my 4th month but it has gotten worse the past month or so and 2 months to go.

I think I had that too, but I didn't know there was a name for it! I swear, a couple of times I thought I was going to split in two. It felt like there were bones separating in my pelvis and it was soooo painful.

It went away immediately after I had my DS.

Re: Pubic Symphysis Diastasis??

For me, if I am moving, there is pain. The only time it doesnt hurt is if I am laying down or sitting down. The second I move, whether it be turning over in bed, getting in and out of bed, getting up and down, picking up my legs to get dressed and put on my shorts, even moving my leg from the brake to the gas pedal while driving...it hurts Chat Icon

this has been going on for over a month and I thought it was regular aches and pains but it keeps getting worse. It is starting to wear me down.

Yep - word for word this is how I feel. It's horrible! I know that for both of us, picking up our little men is def. not helping the situation probably! Chat Icon

Re: Pubic Symphysis Diastasis??

I think I had this with my last pregnancy. I kept telling DH I felt like I got kicked in vajayjay by a mule. It got really bad and I would have to take a few steps at a time and rest towards the end. It did go away immediately after birth however. Chat Icon
