Puppy with belly ache?
We just adopted a puppy a week ago. Today, i woke up and heard his belly making noises...similar to what you hear when your stomach growls but LOUD! he won't eat, and he made poo when he went out. He walked after wards and tried to poo again, but nothing came out.
is this normal, for a puppy to have a bellyache? i have never once heard any of my other dog's bellys.
we have been giving him pedigree dog food, but dumb-a$$ DH bought the variety pack. i would have bought one kind only for a week, then slowly introduced other flavors... but what's done is done.
i am so fearful that he is sick, in a bad way.
my previous puppy survived parvo virus...

Re: Puppy with belly ache?
If he hasn't been to the vet yet, I'd definitely make an appointment. It's always a good idea to get them in, tested, etc. right after you get a new dog.
Food... ahhh food. You should do some research on what's in dog food and decide on the quality and the price tag you can handle. Then consider that your pup may do better or worse on different kinds. I've never had a young puppy but I've heard that they should be on puppy-formulated food for a year or so, then switched to adult food. Here's a thread from a few months back about food quality, and there's a link in there somewhere with reviews.
What kind of puppy is it? I would cut back on bagged treats or anything that could upset it's stomach, and add them back in slowly to see what might be the culprit. Also, if the stomach upset is happening a while after a meal, google "empty stomach syndrome". We deal with this and have to supplement after dinner to prevent throwing up.
Lastly, consider how many times a day you feed. If you only feed once a day, maybe break it up into 2/3 feedings. Sorry this is so long, I hope some of it helps!
