putting their hands in their mouth
DD has been putting her hand in her mouth a lot lately.. whether it is from teething or just because she likes it, but what is starting to concern me is that she gets the whole thing in there and just about gags herself sometimes. What can I do? She does not take a pacifier to keep her busy that way. Should I just keep pulling her hand out?

No leave her be. She'll learn not to put her hand that far back soon. My son did the same thing and DR informed me to not pull it out rather that he was discovering and he needed to learn on his own. Sure enough after gagging himself a few times he finally stopped.

Re: putting their hands in their mouth
Ryan is constantly making himself gag - it's def. teething. I try to offer him the paci but other than that I don't think much helps. He has a few teething friendly dolls I give him too - oh and he likes to have his toes in there too when I change him.

Re: putting their hands in their mouth
If Athan could stick his entire FISTS in his mouth he would. He did make himself gag a few times and has learned his lesson - he now just throws in a few fingers at a time and keeps them near the front

Re: putting their hands in their mouth
My DS also does the same thing. I guess once he figures out that he's the one making himself gag he'll stop!

DS does the same thing and has made himself spit up a few times. I just let him be and hope he'll figure it out!

DS used to do this also, but in time he learned not to put his fingers in so far.

Re: putting their hands in their mouth
it seems like that's all DD wants to do these days! she'll take a paci when she's sleepy but prefers her fingers the rest of the time!
