Q about birthday invites/goodie bags/etc.

Do you find that a lot of people outside this site ("in real life" LOL) do up their invites/goodie bags/favors and such as much as LIF members? I just find that so many people I know don't do as big a deal with any of it than so many posted here. I mean, does anyone here send handwritten ones from the store??? I don't mean it as anything but a compliment, I've done my fair share of personalizing and trying to make stuff just so too, and the stuff everyone posts here is BEAUTIFUL!! I'm just wondering if I am the only one who experiences less done up stuff from their family members/friends otherwise. I wonder if being on a parenting board prompts you to get ideas or whatever...just curious

Most goodie bags (including the ones that we gave out) are generic, with some theme-related items, and some candy. The only "custom" things we ever got was at some parties, they had the kid's names on them before hand, but it was just hand-written in marker. Nothing fancy, just to keep track of who gets which bag.

All of the kid parties we've been to have handwritten invites and generic goodie bags. I like doing art projects, that's the only reason I do photo invites. And we don't do big parties for the kids, it's just immediate family at our house.

That's a good question.

IRL I only know 1 person who does favors for her children's parties...and ALL my friends and cousins have children. I don't do favors either.

I don't know anyone IRL who's done a photo invitation either...and I have 4 parties in 6 weeks between May and June. In fact, one friend did an e-vite! For the girls' first I did a photo invite; for DD's second, I got a pack of Elmo invitations and handwrote them.

On the whole, I find the girls on this site to be much more elaborate than my RL friends, but maybe that's just because the ones who post about it really "do it up" in some ways. For example, I posted DD's 1st b-day photo invitation, but did not post the CVS Elmo ones. Chat Icon

If I never came on LIF and learned Photoshop or what I can do with it, I'd probably still be writing out my invites.
I mostly do my friend's invites/announcements/cards so I guess nobody else writes them out.Chat Icon
