Q for anyone who keeps TV and/or Cable Box on top of Dresser or other Furniture...
What do you put underneath the TV or Cable Box to prevent the top of the dresser from getting scratched and...where did you get it?
Right now in my bedroom I have a cloth under the TV and cable box on top of my dresser but I think it looks messy and collects soooo much dust so I am thinking something plastic would be better - where to buy? TIA

Plexiglass or glass depending on where it is.
Or you can probably find a pretty placemat that would go with your decor.

I had a placemat that I got at TJMaxx
But - the weight of the TV on my dresser damaged the top of the dresser. I would be really careful about that. The TV wasn't even that heavy either (it was a flat panel). We ended up mounting our tv on the wall after that happened (we had to pay ~$200 to have the top of our dresser fixed).

How large is the TV? Ours is only 14inches and I have a swivel. The swivel stand protects the dresser top and allows us to move the tv.

Thanks ladies. The tv is too large for a swivel. I haven't looked underneath in a while so I hope it isn't damaging the dresser!
I was thinking maybe a plastic mat? Does anyone know where i can get one that will fit right? TIA.

Re: Q for anyone who keeps TV and/or Cable Box on top of Dresser or other Furniture...
We have a place mat under our TV. I don't know if I would do plastic under the TV. Our furniture came with instructions not to put anything rubber or plastic directly on the wood because over time it can damage the wood. I forgot exactly what it said so I looked it up:
Can plastic harm the finish on my Thomasville furniture? Yes. If you have ever pulled a plastic notebook up to find its face imprinted on the counter, you've experienced "plasticizer migration". The ingredients that make plastic pliable also make it dangerous to furniture. A chemical migration from plastic tablecloths, placemats, camera cases, TV remotes or notebooks can stain or darken the finish. Adhesive spacers or the rubber feet on appliances, trivets, lamps, and calculators can leave permanent scars on your wood furniture. If plastic materials have damaged your furniture, seek professional repair advice.
