Q for mommies that use powdered formula...

I've only been using this for a week but, WHAT A PAIN!!!!! Any tips?

How do you travel with this formula? Do you bring the boiled water in one bottle and measured out powder in another? Do you pre-make it and travel with it in a cooler? How long is it good for then?

Any tips to make the day go easier - I feel like I am constantly boiling, cooling, mixing UGH!

I never boiled water. I use water bottles or filtered water. When I go somewhere I use the formula dispensers and bring a bottle of water with me.

This is why I always got my kids used to drinking room temp/cold formula! lol Chat Icon

Can you just make your daily batch in a pitcher and keep it in the fridge and just warm up for your baby to drink?

In the beginning, I only used bottled water (Poland Springs). After DS turned 7 or 8 months or so, I used filtered tap water. I never boiled and cooled Chat Icon Chat Icon

I use the floride water from BRU and got this container that holds formula in 4 compartments by sassy:

I fill the bottles with the water. Then when i need a bottle i just pour the formula into bottle and mix and already for dd.

This is what I do too. I fill the bottles with the right amount of water and then it's easy to mix while I'm out.

At night we make 2 bottles and keep them in the fridge so if she wakes up in the middle of the night or in the morning we don't have to worry about mixing formula while we're half asleep.

I use both powdered and RTF formula. When I take my DS out I mix the bottles before hand or fill them with the RTF and put them in a cooler pack. Then I just pull one out and give it to him when we are out. It helps that my DS doesn't need to have his bottles warmed or at room temperature.

Re: Q for mommies that use powdered formula...

I just use room temperature bottled water. For traveling, I use the pre-made formula bottles (they sell them everywhere you can buy formula). HTH!

I bring boiled water in bottles (ds drinks room temperature) and then powdered formula can (the smallest one they have is 8 oz) and make it when I need it...

I use that powder fomula case someone posted above and bring bottled water with me that is room temperature. If I am going to a friend's house I just use warm tap water. I actually find it so much easier to use then the RTF.

I had a couple dozen of the ready-made little bottles, so in the beginning, that was all I used. Since I had a winter baby, I also wasn't out much for any length of time so didn't feed him while out too often.

I did boil water the first 3 months, but when I go out I use bottled water (Poland Spring) and put the powder in a plastic container. It's easy to mix actually, easier than worrying about keeping RTF cold while running around. I also never heated his bottles, I just run them under warm water if they are really cold, so that makes it easier.

Re: Q for mommies that use powdered formula...

I pour the powder into about 2-3 bottles ahead of time. Then I bring bottled water and just add it to the bottle when she gets hungry. If I am going to be out a long time, I bring the whole powder can cause I melted my Sassy powder formula holder in the dishwasher......usually 2-3 bottles does the trick, since she eats solids now....

Re: Q for mommies that use powdered formula...

I use room temp bottled water (Poland spring) and the little pre measure container.
I keep a unopened bottle in my bag but usually fill 2 bottles up with the proper amount before leaving. When I need it I just pour in the powder and mix.
I use a mixer because our formula is really gritty.

If you need it warm the easiest thing is to ask a restaurant/food court for 1/2 a cup of hot water.
