Re: Q for teachers

I work the whole year. I'm a teacher but not in a teaching position--I do technology integration so the summer is office work and planning for the upcoming year.

Re: Q for teachers

Well, I have a 9.5 month school year, and I always used to teach over the summer privately, but now I don't because I spend the summer with Ava. Most teachers I know work over the summer at another job.

Re: Q for teachers

I have taught summer school since I started teaching. I will continue to teach summer school until I have children. When my children are old enough to be in camp, I will work in that camp so they can go for free.

Re: Q for teachers

A lot of teachers work in some capacity in the summer, whether it be summer school, a non teaching job, tutoring, working on curriculum writing for the school/district, finishing grad work or additional training/certification.

When I first started teaching I kept track of the hours I put in every week. In the ten months of the school year I put in more hours than a 50 week employee working 47 hour work weeksChat Icon so if you average it out, I didn't get my summer "off"

I've found with teaching that the longer you do it, the less time it takes. The first year definitely requires more prep than every other year, especially if you are repeating grades and material.
